 Program Dates
The IHRE program takes place from July through November (in accordance with the second semester of the Wits academic calendar). Students from North American institutions forgo their fall semester of studies to participate in IHRE.
Prior to the start of the formal semester, North American students gather at Bard College for a pre-departure workshop, typically scheduled around two weeks in advance of the start of classes at Wits. IHRE students also participate in the Community Human Rights Workshop at Wits Rural the week before classes begin.
