Regular Wits Courses

Students from North American institutions are also encouraged to consider enrolling in a regular, non-IHRE course at the University of the Witwatersrand.  In such cases, students will take 12 credits of coursework within the IHRE program combined with a semester-long, regular Wits course for 4 credits (16 credits total).

In general, students may choose from any 1st year offering in the Humanities.  Students may also be able to enroll in certain upper level courses.  However, to do so students must meet the stated course pre-requisites and obtain advance departmental approval (with the assistance of IHRE).

Students interested in taking a non-IHRE course are strongly encouraged to contact us in advance of applying to the program to find out more about course options and pre-requisites.
