Workshop Overview
IHRE students participate in a Community Human Rights Workshop at Wits Rural. The workshop offers students a directed opportunity for exchange and dialogue with members of a South African rural community. The program will include, in situ, lectures and discussions on human rights issues facing many rural communities in South Africa, visits with local organizations, homestays, and a visit to Kruger Park.
Most importantly, the Community Human Rights Workshop provides physical and intellectual space for the local and international IHRE students to form bonds that will grow throughout the program. Since IHRE sudents come from North America and Africa, the opportunity to form relationships prior the beginning of classes is an important part of the success of the program.
